Sierra's boys volleyball and boys tennis teams both earned the No. 1 seed in the Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs.
The brackets will be released by the section on Friday, and the postseason for both sports begins next week.
All six area schools will compete in the boys volleyball playoffs.
Manteca (19-3), the Valley Oak League champion, is the No. 3 seed in Division II and will play No. 14 Merced (20-5) in the opening game next Thursday, May 2. The Buffaloes enter the postseason as the league's top team. According to MaxPreps, this area ranks 7th overall in SJS.
VOL runner-up Sierra (21-8) is the top seed in Division III. The Timberwolves will face No. 16 Orestimba, the Southern Athletic League runner-up (13-8).
Three area schools will join Sierra in the D-III bracket.
Lathrop (23-5), the Western Athletic Conference champion, is the No. 3 seed and will face a familiar opponent at No. 14.
East Union (13-14). The Manteca Unified rivals previously met in a nonleague match on Feb. 27, with Lathrop winning in four sets.
Two-time SJS Division IV champion Ripon Christian (18-7) has been promoted to the more challenging D-III bracket. The SAL champions will face No. 10 Wheatland (16-4), the No. 7 seed and second place in the Pioneer Valley League.
Ripon (21-9), the co-champion of the Trans Valley League, is the strongest contender in Division IV in terms of enrollment. The Indians are the No. 5 seed and will play No. 12 Sierra Academy (12-11) and Nevada City in the first round.
All championship matches will be played on May 11th at Cosumnes River University.
Sierra's boys tennis team, which won its first Valley Oak League championship, leads the eight-team division IV team and will play No. 8 Beyer next Wednesday.
VOL co-champion Oakdale and No. 3 Manteca are in Division III. Manteca enters as the No. 6 seed and will face No. 3 seed West Park of Roseville. Oakdale is the No. 2 seed.
In co-ed tennis, Ripon ranks eighth in Division I and will host ninth-ranked Lyndhurst next Thursday. The winner will face top-seeded Amador.
Ripon Christian is the No. 5 seed in Division II and will play No. 4 Bear River in the opener.
The tennis postseason includes individual tournaments on May 13th and 14th. The SJS Division I-II boys individual tournament will be held at the Johnson Ranch Racquet Club in Roseville, and the co-ed tournament will be held at the Oak Park Tennis Center in Stockton.
