Seven Ohio State women's ice hockey players earned All-Conference honors this season. Western University Hockey Association It was announced on Thursday.
Graduate forward Hannah Birka and graduate defenseman Kayla Burns were named to the All-WCHA first team. Graduate defenseman Hadley Hartmets made the second team, graduate forward and team captain Jennifer Gardiner, freshman forward Joy Dunn and senior goaltender Raegan Kirk made the third team, and freshman forward Jocelyn Amos made the All-Star team. Joined Dan on the rookie team.
Birka, in his first season at Ohio State after transferring from Boston University, led the Buckeyes in scoring and assists this season, scoring 39 points and 22 points in each category. Barnes, a fellow Boston College transfer, had a team-high 48 blocked shots and led all WCHA defenders with 24 points in regular-season conference games.
Hartmets tied Barnes for the most points by a Buckeye defenseman this season with 27 points. Hartmets earned WCHA Defender of the Week honors four times throughout the season.
Dunn was Ohio State's leading scorer with 18 points during the regular season as a freshman. She had two hat tricks this season, against Bemidji State on Nov. 3, 2023, and against Minnesota State on Jan. 12, 2023.
Gardiner's all-conference award is the second in his career, having been named to the first team in the 2022-23 season. Gardiner has 36 points, the second-most for the Buckeyes, and 15 points, the third-most on the Buckeyes this season.
Kirk finished the regular season with a 1.02 points per game average, ranking first in the WCHA and fourth in the nation. She compiled a 14-1-0 record with six shutouts and was named WCHA Goaltender of the Week five times.
Amos scored 12 goals and 24 points in his freshman season, earning him two WCHA Rookie of the Year honors.
