With less than a week until the NFL Draft, all eyes are on former USC superstar quarterback Caleb Williams. Williams is expected to be selected No. 1 overall on Tuesday, and he will head to Chicago. It's a certainty, but it's probably going to happen. However, some NFL scouts didn't think highly of the former Trojan, with some saying they would select LSU quarterback Jaden Daniels with the first overall pick instead of Williams. AFC scouts were also there.
“If I had to pick, I would pick Jaden Daniels No. 1,” the AFC scout said. “He's a better athlete. I think he loves football more. I believe he's just a better player. And he's on the rise and Caleb is going sideways. I think.”
That's just one scout's opinion, and I'm sure a lot of people feel that way about Daniels. However, many other scouts are big fans of Williams and know he will be a player on many projects.
“When it comes to players, the only thing I really don't like is the height,” said an AFC executive. “He's reckless. He does some crazy things — but at the same time, he makes a lot of big plays. I think you've got to hold on to that a little bit. A lot of arm talent. He's shorter than Bryce, and he's really confident and instinctive.
Williams is one of them, and if the Bears think too much about this, general manager Ryan Pauls and the Bears team will forever regret it. Also, this kind of move to not elect him would get people fired.
The 22-year-old will be one of the best draft prospects of the past decade, and it's no surprise. He can do everything on the soccer field. He makes his teammates better and there's no play he can't make for the football team.
Don’t overthink it, Chicago!
