Home games against Notre Dame, Auburn and Ole Miss highlight Sanford football team's 2024 schedule, head coach announced tod yelton Wednesday afternoon.
“I'm excited about the 2024 schedule,” Yelton said. “It's another tough game for us to play. In the non-conference, we play a lot of really good teams. We're happy to have Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Auburn and others here. , I'm really excited.''It should be an exciting game for the home crowd.''
Yelton said that in addition to the conference's tough schedule, this year will be one of the toughest in Southern Conference history.
“The SoCon schedule is once again really strong thanks to a great coaching staff,” Yelton said. “I think this will probably be the toughest set of SoCon teams I've seen in a while. Last year, our league finished 13th.th RPI means this group is winning the most matches. ”
Sanford will be at home in an exhibition game against South Alabama on August 6th and will play a second exhibition contest at Jacksonville State University on August 11th. The Bulldogs open the regular season with four straight home games. Sanford will welcome Tennessee Tech (Aug. 15), Notre Dame (Aug. 18), UAB (Aug. 22) and Troy (Aug. 25) to Shauna Yelton Field during that period. It turns out. The matchup against Notre Dame will be Sanford's first time in football against the Fighting Irish.
Sanford will go on the road for the first time in the regular season when the Bulldogs take on Army on Aug. 28. The Bulldogs will then host Auburn (Sept. 5) and Ole Miss (Sept. 8) before playing at Georgia (Sept. 12). Sanford concludes its non-conference schedule with a home game against Georgia Southern on Sept. 15.
Sanford opens the Southern Conference with back-to-back road contests at Western Carolina (Sept. 19) and Chattanooga (Sept. 22). Sanford will then host Wofford on September 27th in the team's first home SoCon game of the season.
The Bulldogs then play at The Citadel (October 3) before facing Furman (October 6). After a trip to VMI (Oct. 11), Sanford will host Mercer (Oct. 17). Sanford will play at ETSU (October 20) before concluding the regular season with a home game against UNC Greensboro (October 27).
The SoCon tournament will once again be held on campus, with the first round set for October 29th. The quarterfinals will be held on November 1st and the semifinals will be held on November 3rd. The SoCon tournament championship game will be held one day on November 1st. 9 or 10.
