Most of Arizona State's professional and college stars are training with the program's former head coach at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado or are competing in the Canadian Olympic Trials, but they will be playing in their home pools this weekend. Only a handful of athletes race.
The meet, which is not officially part of the USA Swimming Club Excellence Series held in Austin, Irvine and Atlanta, lacked some of the opening-day excitement seen elsewhere around the country.
One of the highlights was the professional athlete's 22.15 points out of 50 in the free preliminary round. Ryan Held. That's slower than last month's San Antonio meet (21.68 seconds), but faster than the first two meets of the season in Westmont and Knoxville. He touched off then in the final, taking first place with a time of 22.33 seconds.
His training partner and fellow U.S. national team player Johnny Crow I was 2nd place with a time of 22.34 seconds. jack dolan I was 3rd place with a time of 22.49 seconds. Crowe swam 21.89 seconds in San Antonio and Dolan swam 22.12 seconds, so the Sun Devil sprint team appears to have a heavier training load than they did at the meet a month ago, but racing at home. Of course, considering that.
18-year-old August Vetch The Neptune swimmer placed fifth in the final with a time of 22.76 seconds, falling short of the Olympic selection standard of 22.79 seconds. This will be his second race in Indianapolis, along with the 100 fly, where he made the trial cut last summer.
The majority of the sessions were Sun Devil-related players.Australian person charlie brown, one of the bright spots for the Arizona State women's varsity team this season, swam her best time of 4:16.10 by 0.03 seconds. Her previous best record was set at this tournament last season.
15 years old paige downey He took second place with a time of 4 minutes 16.81 seconds, shaving one-tenth of a second off his best time in March.
