Gloucester, Massachusetts – meg rittenhouse The Colby women's ice hockey team added another big honor to her resume by being named to the East's second team last year and securing a spot on the 2023-24 CMM/AHCA Women's Division III All-American First Team East. added. The senior is also one of 15 student-athletes selected as finalists for the Laura Heard Award, given to the AHCA Women's Ice Hockey Division III Player of the Year.
The 2024 NESCAC Player of the Year had a great season earning him the third first-team selection of his career. Rittenhouse ranks fifth in the conference in goals (16), game-winning goals (six), points (29), points per game (1.16) and assists (13). The 2022 NESCAC Rookie of the Year served as team captain and led the Mules to a 17-8-1 record, helping them advance to the conference semifinals for the fourth time in five tournaments.
All-American teams are voted on by the DIII women's head coaches, who honor the top 24 hockey players in each division. The award winners come from 15 different schools, with 21 of the 24 schools selected from the United States, and one school each from New Brunswick, Ontario and Norway.
The Laura Heard Award is presented to the nation's best DIII women's ice hockey player and honors the memory of former Elmira College standout Laura Heard. Hurd, who graduated from Elmira College in 2005 and was a four-time All-American, died in a car accident shortly after her graduation. She won her AHCA Player of the Year Award in 2005. The winner of this year's Heard Prize will be announced on Thursday, March 16th.
