Rice and Allen beat Spartans 2-0 in Battle of the Bay – SJSU Athletics – Official Athletics Website

Stanford, California—Cheyenne Rice and Tayla Allen won both matches as the San Jose State beach volleyball team competed in a double-championship match Friday at the Battle of the Bay at Stanford Beach Volleyball Stadium.

The Spartans lost their first two games of the day to St. Mary's 3-2.

• Rice and Allen scored the Spartans' first points of the day in a 21-17, 22-20 straight-set victory.
• Jada Ward and Jada Hall scored the second points in a 21-9, 21-15 victory.
• Sienna Brewster and Tessa Rogers took the second set of the match 22-20 and stole the fifth set, but lost 15-9.

San Jose State lost to the University of California, Davis, 4-1.

• Rice and Allen scored the only Spartan points in the 21-17, 22-24, 15-11 victory.
• Ward and Hall played through three sets, winning the first set 21-16, but lost the second set 21-19 and 16-14.

next-The Spartans will play two more dual matches in Saturday's Battle of the Bay – against Oregon at 2 p.m. and against No. 2 Stanford at 6 p.m. Admission to Stanford Beach Volleyball Stadium is free.
