Boys volleyball will have a stretch run until the end of sectional play on May 9 and the WPIAL playoffs begin the following week, with teams preparing to compete for postseason positions and tournament berths in both Class 3A and Class 2A. There is.
The Western Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association released its latest rankings Monday morning, with Shaler and Mars both holding the No. 1 spot, while Central Catholic (Class 3A) and Our Lady of the Sacred Heart (Class 2A) each ranked No. 1. rose to the top. Top 10.
North Allegheny, Seneca Valley, Norwin and Penn-Trafford round out the top five in Class 3A.
Ambridge, North Catholic, South Fayette and Gateway rounded out the top five in Class 2A, while Thomas Jefferson jumped from 10th to sixth in Class 2A in both polls this week.
Central Catholic has won three straight since losing 3-0 to No. 4 Norwin in Section 3 3A.
The wins include a 3-0 victory over No. 9 Hempfield in sectional play last Tuesday.
OLSH won three games in Sections 1-2A, including a 3-2 victory over No. 9 Seton LaSalle on April 8, and rose to the top with a 4-0 winning streak.
Last Saturday, there was only one tournament in which WPIAL teams participated. Eleven teams participated in the annual tournament in Upper St. Clair, and in the one-game championship final, Class 3A No. 6 Cannon-McMillan defeated Class 3A No. 7 Butler 25-21.
Gateway and Umbridge were the semi-finalists.
