Rams football loses tough game at home

The Valley Rams soccer team began area play at home against Beauregard on Monday, and the Rams suffered a 4-1 loss.
Valley struggled offensively from the beginning, but they led by two points in the first half. Josh Lugo got the game going for the Hornets, with the captain giving his team a 1-0 lead with 21:43 left in the first half.
Lugo continued to lead Beauregard, this time through facilitation. With five minutes left in the first half, Griffin Waller scored from a cross from Lugo.
The Rams started the second half with a goal by Miguel Sosa off an assist from Jaynel Ariza, cutting the lead to one point.
Valley had several chances to tie the score and take control of the game in the second half, but the Rams struggled to make the final pass.
Instead, Beauregard scored Brian Lugo in the final minute to seal the game, giving the Hornets a 3-1 lead with just over 13 minutes remaining.
Beauregard had one final blow before the end of the game, with Ison McAnally converting a header with 12:03 left in the game.
Sosa led the Valley with one goal on just one try. The Rams attempted a total of 10 shots.
Valley's goal was led by Chris Martinez. Martinez has started at center back for most of the season. Martinez allowed four goals and finished with eight saves.
Monday's loss leaves the Valley at 0-1 in area play. The Rams are 2-3 this season. Valley is seeing a rapid turnaround as the team travels to face Elmore County on Tuesday.
