Los Angeles – Jacinda Ramirez and Anna Peroia The WCC announced Monday that they have been named the West Coast Conference's first “Pair of the Week.”
No. 5 ranked LMU Beach Volleyball opened its 2024 season at the Outrigger Duke Kahanamoku Beach Classic, one of the most competitive tournaments in the country. Led by Ramirez and Perroia, the Lions opened the season with a win over No. 9 Hawaii. The pair won 24-22, 18-21, 15-10 against the hosts. Later in the day, Ramirez and Peroia won in straight sets against #7 Stanford, 21-19, 21-16. In Friday's competition, the pair won 22-20, 12-21, 16-14 on Court 3, securing LMU's only points against defending national champion USC. Ramirez and Peroia held on to win against No. 2 UCLA in the final game of the round. Robin play, 21-13, 21-12. They finished the weekend with a 4-1 record, with their only loss coming in a rematch to USC in the semifinals.
In addition to the WCC honor, Peroia was also named Best Blocker at the Duke Kahanamoku Beach Classic.
LMU is scheduled to make its home debut at the Battle for LA on Friday and Saturday. LMU is open daily at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., and admission is free.
