Powderville girls soccer team loses to Waccamaw in 3A state championship game
The Powderville girls soccer team advanced to the 3A state championship game this year after losing in the Upper state finals last season, and the Patriots faced Wakamau on Friday night in Columbia. The game went into halftime scoreless, but Wakamaw came on as a substitute five minutes into the second half and Lindsay Latimer found the back of the net. Latimer scored again in the 66th minute, giving the Warriors a 2-0 lead. Powderville was unable to make a comeback and Waccamaw won 2-0 to claim the title.
