The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department announced that a 32-year-old Pomona man was arrested on Tuesday, May 28, on suspicion of attempted murder after he allegedly intentionally ran over a female acquaintance with his vehicle near Montclair.
The victim sustained serious injuries but is expected to survive, the sheriff's office said in a statement.
The woman was hit by a vehicle around 11 a.m. Monday near East End and Grand avenues in an unincorporated area near Montclair. Investigators identified a man as a suspect and obtained a search warrant for his home.
Then, around 1:20 a.m. Tuesday, police spotted the man driving a vehicle and attempted to stop him. He fled the scene in his car and police pursued him into Riverside County before finally turning himself in, police said.
He was booked into the West Valley Detention Center and being held in lieu of $1 million bail, according to jail records.
Sheriff's investigators declined Wednesday to discuss the man and woman's relationship or a motive.
Chino Hills Sheriff's Office investigators are urging anyone with information about the incident to call them at 909-364-2000.
