Area middle and high school students can participate in a soccer tournament hosted by University of Scranton students as part of a sports event management course. Proceeds from the second annual Scranton Soccer Fest, to be held on Saturday, May 4, at Fitzpatrick Field at the University of Scranton, will benefit the American Breast Cancer Foundation.
Groups of 6 to 10 people can register to participate in 6-on-6 tournaments in the following age divisions: U12 boys. U12 girls. U14 co-educational. High school male. And a female high school student. Each team is guaranteed to play at least his 4 games. All soccer skill levels are welcome to participate. The game will begin at 9am on May 4th.
Registration fee of $150 per team through April 15 includes T-shirts for participants. Registration from April 16 to his April 28 is $165 per team and does not include T-shirts.
The event is hosted by members of the university's Sporting Event Management course, led by Dr. Ovidiu Kociel, assistant professor of management marketing and entrepreneurship. This project aims to provide students with a hands-on opportunity to organize a community-based sporting event. The project includes all aspects of event management, from registration to marketing to the organization of the play itself.
