So far this spring on the AAU circuit, Syracuse Basketball 2025 four-star priority recruit Kiyan Anthony from New York City is off to a great start.
In fact, the nation's top analysts recently emphasized how the 6-foot-5 shooting guard is one of the top performers ever in grassroots basketball.
Kiyan Anthony, the son of Orange legend Carmelo Anthony, has received a scholarship offer from his father's alma mater in November 2022. He holds various other major offers, including a new offer from Arizona State University.
Last October, the rising high school senior took an official visit to Hill, as well as fellow Atlantic Coast Conference school Florida State University. We'll see if Kiyan plans any more official visits in the coming months.
Anthony is a standout player for Baltimore-based Team Melo's 17U team in Nike's EYBL league. EYBL currently holds two sessions in Memphis, Tennessee and then in the Atlanta area.
According to the league's website, Anthony is averaging 19.0 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. In the EYBL 17U division, they are currently tied for 13th in points per contest and tied for 16th in boards per encounter.
The EYBL will hold its third session in Indianapolis this weekend during NCAA Live. It will be interesting to see if the Orange staff checks on Anthony during this first spring evaluation period.
In a recent article, Rivals.com national analyst Jason Jordan highlighted some of the top prospects who are playing at a very high level on the AAU circuit this spring. He noted that these players are a good fit for a program whose primary focus will be on highly ranked seniors during the 2023-2024 high school season.
Jordan discussed Anthony in the article. In 2023-2024, Anthony was a key prep player on the top five varsity team at Long Island Lutheran High School in Brookville, New York. VJ Edgecombe, a player who is committed to Baylor;
Edgecombe will play in the Big 12 Conference as a Bear in 2024-25, and I believe Anthony is ready for big things as a senior at Long Island Lutheran University.
Jordan certainly had to take a backseat to Edgecombe in this section, but Anthony's great play in grassroots basketball this spring is what will happen to Melo's son in the 2024-2025 high school season. I wrote that it may be an indication of the
Regarding his performance thus far with Team Melo, Rivals.com's national analyst wrote in part, “Utilizes Anthony's 6-foot-6 frame to run into the lane, step out and efficiently knock down 3-point shots. His ability was devastating for the team.” Opponents. ”
Currently, the industry-generated 247Sports Composite and industry-generated On3 industry rankings rank Anthony within the top 40 nationally for the 2025 cycle. Meanwhile, Anthony is ranked 29th overall in his class, No. 7 shooting guard and No. 1 in New York by On3.
