KEARNEY โ A new basketball development program is here to support local talent in central Nebraska.
JD Carson and Chase Dippel teamed up to create Platte River Prep, a basketball development program that teaches fundamentals and skills to area athletes based on their coaching experience at various levels.
Carson, who is currently the head coach of Amherst girls basketball and a former Kearny Bearcat girls coach, has over 16 years of experience coaching middle school, freshman, junior varsity and high school athletes at the varsity level. The Kearney High School graduate was also a three-year varsity player during his prep career, finishing as a state semifinalist and quarterfinalist in 2007 and his 2008. did.
Dippel has been arriving at Central Nebraska since 2016 as a clinician for the Midwest Elite Basketball Camp. Dippel was also named Midwest Elite Basketball Coach of the Year in 2019 and also served as an assistant coach for Baker University men's basketball from 2021-2023. Dippel's coaching experience includes St. Mary's College (2015-17), University of Ottawa (2017-2018), Emporia State University (2018-2020) and Missouri Baptist College (2020-21). Includes teaching experience.
The pair were also recently named the next Amherst women's basketball staff, with Dippel joining Carson as an assistant.
