Hamilton College defenseman james philpott '25 (Calgary, Alberta/Centennial High School) has been named to the 2023-24 CCM/American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) Men's Division II-III All-America Team.
Philpott, who is representing the United States for the first time, is one of six players on the East Division's third team. He becomes Hamilton men's hockey's ninth All-American and the 11th in team history to earn the honor.forward Gus Katsulas '06 and the goaltender Evan Buitenhuis '18 was a two-time winner.
Philpott had 19 points, three goals and 16 assists in 26 games. He blocked 21 shots and posted a plus-minus rating of plus-11. He led the defense in allowing 2.38 goals per game and had a penalty shooting percentage of 85.9 percent. Philpott was named to the All-New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) first team in February.
Hamilton (17-8-1 overall) defeated Amherst College 4-3 in the quarterfinals of the 2024 NESCAC Men's Hockey Championship to advance to the semifinals. The Continentals finished conference play with an 11-6-1 record and placed fourth in the NESCAC standings with 33.5 points. The 17 wins are the most for the team since the 2016-17 season. Hamilton had received votes in USCHO.com's Division III Top 15 poll as of Feb. 26.
