NEW YORK – Shaquille O'Neal and Phil Jackson shared the stage Monday night in downtown Manhattan at an American Express event. ESPN's Hannah Storm spoke with the great and legendary former Lakers head coach about how champions are made in the NBA. And how the Lakers became a dynasty again in the 2000s.
She also asked them to share some heart-wrenching anecdotes. When the Storm asked Jackson how O'Neal's fun personality translated on the court, the former coach and current New York Knicks president replied:
“Well, there were many times when he brought teams down to pieces with humorous effect on the floor. He shocked us all during practice, especially when he showed up naked and wearing only his shoes. Something happened.”
Shaq's reaction? “I don't remember,” he said with a laugh.
What's even better about this is that this isn't the first time we've heard about Shaquille O'Neal's nude prank. Former Suns head coach Alvin Gentry said this about his time under center in Phoenix in 2014 (via SI.com):
According to the coach, “every few days or every week or so,” the big man wanders around the corner of the locker room completely naked, knocks teammates and coaching staff to the ground, where he rolls around with them, so-called ” It was said that he had a “Brazilian style.” Naked wrestling. ”
It's only a matter of time before we hear more naughty stories about Shaq being nude, right?
