The Pittsburgh Penguins acquired forward Bennett MacArthur from the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for forward Lukas Svejkovski on Sunday.
MacArthur is signed through the 2024-25 season and will make an average salary of $925,000 at the NHL level.
MacArthur, 23, spent the majority of the 2023-24 season with the ECHL's Allen Americans and Orlando Solar Bears. In 55 games, the forward recorded 11 goals, 21 assists and 32 points, adding two goals in five playoff games with the Americans. He also appeared in two games with the American Hockey League's Syracuse Crunch.
The 6'1″, 196 pound forward played two years of professional hockey in the ECHL and AHL. In 108 ECHL games, MacArthur recorded 21 goals, 39 assists and 60 points with Orlando and Allen. He has also played six AHL games over the past two seasons, both with Syracuse.
Prior to turning professional, the Summerside, Prince Edward Island native played three seasons with the Acadie-Bathurst Titans of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League from 2019 to 2022. The forward recorded 78 goals, 51 assists and 129 points in 120 career QMJHL games, adding another 17 points in 17 playoff appearances.
Svejkovski appeared in 19 games with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in 2023-24, recording two goals, two assists and four points. He also appeared in 30 games with the Wheeling Nailers, recording 37 points (16 goals, 21 assists). In 2022-23, he appeared in 47 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, recording 15 points (12 assists).
