EUGENE — New honors have come for University of Oregon football player Bo Nix.
Nix was named Male Athlete of the Year at the “O Show” awards ceremony, an annual event hosted by the University of Oregon athletics department that honors Oregon student-athletes.
Nix left Eugene as the all-time leader in completion percentage (74.9) and also broke single-season school records for completions (364), passing yards (4,508) and passing touchdowns (45) in 2023.
Last season, Nix set the NCAA single-season record for passing completion percentage (77.45).
Nix finished third in the voting, earning him the right to attend the 2023 Heisman Trophy ceremony in New York, before being selected 12th overall by the Denver Broncos in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Another Oregon football player, Jackson Powers-Johnson, was named the Emerald Award winner as the most outstanding senior male student-athlete. Powers-Johnson was a unanimous All-American in 2023 and won the Rimington Trophy, awarded to the nation's top center.
Powers Johnson was selected by the Las Vegas Raiders in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
From the boys' basketball team, N'Faly Dante received the Yamanaka Pride Award, which recognizes overall individual growth and leadership within the team.
