The University of Oregon's football program has made impressive strides in the offseason, competing against cross country rivals the Ohio State Buckeyes. Oregon State is ranked No. 3 in the 2024 freshman class, with the Buckeyes not far behind at No. 5, according to a list compiled by 247Sports. This rivalry has been a highlight of the offseason, with both teams competing for the same talented recruits.
Over the weekend, Oregon State took five-star cornerback Naeem Offord on an official visit. Offord is currently at Ohio State, where 247Sports ranks him as the No. 5 overall player and best cornerback in the 2025 class.
Offord isn't the only recruit Oregon is looking to add to its roster. Four-star cornerback Blake Woodby, a 2025 graduate, recently visited the University of Oregon for the spring game on April 27th. On Friday, Woodby decided to resign from Ohio State University. Prior to the suspension, Rivals' Adam Gorney reported that Lanning and his staff were working on a turnaround for Woodby.
Woodby, ranked No. 65 overall and No. 7 cornerback according to On3 industry rankings, could bring another level of talent to the team. If he were to transfer to the University of Oregon, he would join his former teammate, freshman defensive back Ifi Obidegwu, and further strengthen his team's defense.
The college football world made another big decision over the weekend. LSU commit Dakorien Moore has been decommitted from LSU.
“After careful and extensive consideration, my family and I have decided that it is in my best interest to withdraw from LSU. Despite this decision, I would like to emphasize that I will not consider any employment offers. think.”

Moore, the No. 3 overall prospect in the 2025 class, has been committed to the Tigers since August, but announced Wednesday that he will resume recruiting.
Before committing to LSU, Moore had Ohio State, Oregon and Texas among his top picks. Despite his dedication, these three schools continued to recruit him. Moore plans to visit these three schools over the summer. He is scheduled to visit Ohio State (May 31), Texas (June 14) and Oregon State (June 21).
Trajen Odom visited Eugene over the weekend. The 2025 four-star lineman spoke with Oregon SI in February about his recent experience at Oregon and coach Dan Lanning.
“We were talking about the opportunities available to him at Oregon State if he decided to commit,” Odom said. “And what exactly is The O’s brand? Coach Lanning is such a straight-laced, genuine guy. He’ll train you on bad days and good days alike; I'll still try just as hard to love you at the end of the day. ”
Odom has an unofficial top three of USC, Oregon and Ohio State.
He also has expressed interest in four-star running back Jordon Davidson from Ohio State and Oregon. Davidson will take official visits to Alabama (May 31), Michigan (June 7), Oregon (June 14) and Ohio State (June 21).
With a strong showing in the 2024 recruiting class and a key flip in the 2025 recruiting class, the Oregon State football program continues to trend upwards under Lanning. The Ducks are aggressively competing with traditional powerhouses for the nation's best talent, pointing to a bright future for the program.
