lansing โ North Division varsity volleyball players were all smiles last Thursday at the state capitol in Lansing as they were awarded the honor of winning back-to-back championships. The Lady Broncos, along with head coach Jim Fish, who is also the superintendent of North Branch Area Schools, were guests of state Rep. Phil Greene (R-Millington). The team toured the Capitol and was recognized on the floor of the State House of Representatives. Lunch was also provided to the team.
North Branch defeated Grand Rapids West Catholic in the state final on Nov. 18 to win its second consecutive Division 2 state title. The win marked North Branch's fifth state volleyball championship in school history.
The Lady Broncos finished the 2023-24 season with an overall record of 56-4-1 and remained at the top of the Division 2 state rankings throughout the season. On the way to the state title, they went undefeated in the Bluewater Area Conference, winning the league title, district title, and regional title. North Branch also defeated 35 state-ranked teams, placing him 39th in the national rankings.
