Boosted by two goals from Charlotte Diemer, fifth-seeded Pingree defeated fourth-seeded Oak Knoll, ranked No. 4 in NJ.com's top five, by three at Bridgewater Sports Arena in Bridgewater. We won 1-1.
Kate Nicolai did a great job in front of the net, saving 23 of 24 shot attempts for Pingree (7-9-1). Pingree will face No. 1 seed Morristown Beard in the state semifinals.
Neither team scored after the first period. Oak Knoll entered with a goal from Caitlin Geoghegan at 13:52 of the first period, but goals from Dimar and Alexis Glassofer at the final 9:06 of the period gave Pingree a 2-1 lead.
Dimar scored a goal at 14:08 of the third period to open the third period, but Pingree huddled on defense for the rest of the game.
Oak Knoll finished the season with 7 wins and 8 losses.
Morristown Beard 4, Trinity Hall 1
Jessica Sperling pits top-seeded Morristown Beard, ranked No. 2 in NJ.com's Top 5, against No. 8 seed Trinity in an NJSIAA women's ice hockey quarterfinal game at Twin Oaks. – Scored a hat trick in a 4-1 victory over Hall. Morristown Ice Arena.
After a scoreless first period, Sperling put Morristown-Beard (16-4) ahead with back-to-back power play goals in the second period.
After Sienna DeAngelis scored Trinity Hall's only goal at 4:49 of the second period, goals from Marily Vartanian and a sparring (power play) secured the win for Morristown Beard.
In front of the net, Morristown Beard goaltender Hanna Mortazavi made 11 saves. Morbiard will face the winner of Pingry/Oak Knoll in the state semifinals.
Trinity Hall finished the season with 10 wins, 8 losses, and 2 draws.
