Head coach Adam Nightingale was named Big Ten Hockey Coach of the Year. Nightingale led the Spartans to his 23-9-3 season, winning the program's first Big Ten title.
This is the first time in the history of the award that a Michigan State University hockey head coach has earned this honor.
Freshman defenseman Artyom Levshunov joins Minnesota forward Jimmy Snageld, Wisconsin's Kyle McClellan (who also won the Goaltender of the Year title), and the Wolverines' trio (forwards Gavin Brindley and Rutger McGroe). Artie and defenseman Seamus Casey) were named first-team All-Big Ten players.Spartan Net Minder Trey Augustin named to the second team All-Big Ten selection. Forward Nicholas Muller was named the team's Big Ten Sportsmanship Award recipient.
Levshunov was also named Defensive Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year. Brindley, his sophomore year at Michigan State, won player of the year and leading scorer (29 points).
In addition, three sophomore Spartans earned spots on the honorable mention team: sophomores Carsen Dorwart, Isaac Howard and Brighton native Joey Larson.
