University of Colorado freshman goaltender Carsen Musser is one of 46 players invited by the United States Hockey Association to participate in the World Junior Summer Showcase, to be held July 26-Aug. 3 at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Michigan.
The World Junior Summer Showcase, which will also include players from Canada, Finland and Sweden, is designed to evaluate players for possible selection onto their national teams to compete in the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship, to be held in Ottawa, Ontario from December 26, 2024 to January 5, 2025.
“It's a great honor to be recognized by my country as one of the top players of my birth year and to be competing in the U20 World Junior Championships,” said the University of Colorado head coach. Chris Mayotte “We are very proud that Carsen has been invited to the camp, where he will gain some additional experience before joining the team in the fall.”
A sixth-round pick by the Arizona Coyotes (now the Utah Hockey Club) in the 2023 NHL Draft, Masur compiled a record of 17 wins, 11 losses and two ties with the Madison Capitols of the USHL last season. He finished the regular season second in the USHL with a .905 save percentage and fourth with a 2.74 goals-against average.
A member of the U.S. National Development U-17 and U-18 teams, Musser went 2-0 with a 0.75 ERA and .947 save percentage in two games for Team USA, which won the gold medal at the 2023 IIHF Under-18 World Championship.
Junior goalkeepers to watch Kaidan Mbeleko She was a member of the U.S. Junior National Team in 2022 and 2023. She is a classmate of Mbeleko's. Noah Rabawas also on the '23 team.
