The transfer portal has become one of the most significant changes in the sport of college football over the past decade. Nebraska football has had 14 transfers since December 2023. Six of them joined the program, and the remaining eight left the team.
Two of the most notable names in this portal are quarterbacks Chuva Purdy and Jeff Sims. Sims was an opening-day starter at the University of Nebraska and finished his career at Lincoln with an 0-2 record. He has not yet found a new destination.
Chuba Purdy also started just two games in 2023 and, like starting pitcher Jeff Sims, finished with an 0-2 record. Purdy originally committed to San Jose State, but he changed his transfer to Nevada after SJSU head coach Brent Brennan left for Arizona State.
