Nebraska tight end Thomas Fidon will likely be a key factor in the Huskers' offense in 2024. The junior played in all 12 games last season and had 25 receptions, 260 receiving yards and four touchdowns.
After Nebraska's spring game, head coach Matt Rhule credited the Iowa State native for his success on the Council Bluffs football field.
“He's a pretty explosive guy. He's 4-5. I said to Thomas that I think the biggest thing for Thomas was the end of the season. I said, 'What a great fall. I thought, “I'm talking about him.'' Like us. we had. He was like, “What do you mean?” What I love about Thomas Fidon is that he is never happy. He's never happy, because he wants to be great. He wants to be the best tight end in the world and he's always trying to get better, but my point is, he's coming off two ACL injuries and getting through spring, fall camp, and the season healthy. Ta. Because that's what he needed right now. , has been working on lifting this winter instead of rehab, and his arm length is 35 inches, arm size is 34 inches, and he's reaching the 260s as of four-five. He's a physical freak and he's loyal. ”
Rhule even admitted that teams are reaching out to the tight end and trying to lure him into the transfer portal.
“Every team in the country is trying to get him to leave and go there, but he's a Nebraska Cornhusker through and through. I love that player, I love his approach, and for the players. It's so nice to see a player obsessed with being great and never happy, but at the same time, to your point, he needed to have a real offseason. He just had to do some weight lifting, no rehab, and I think he's really starting to see what he's capable of now.”
Nebraska appears to have a competitive team at tight end in 2024, including players like Carter Nelson, Nate Boekircher and Ismael Smith-Flores.
