On3's Andy Staples said he believes the Tennessee Volunteers can make the College Football Playoff this season with an expanded field.
The Tennessee Volunteers are one of the few programs that could greatly benefit from a 12-team College Football Playoff field. They finished outside the CFP in 2022, but would have qualified if there had been a 12-team playoff at the time. The Vols just finished a 9-4 season and have a lot of work to do, but some national media outlets see great potential.
On3's andy staples He joined the program during spring practice and was impressed with the way it was run in Knoxville, Tennessee. Missouri and Ole Miss were two of his programs that were in the same conversation for Staples next season.
“Tennessee, we saw them last week. The defensive line is very deep, the secondary is deeper than we thought, the receivers are probably deeper than we thought. They need some luck with injuries on the offensive line.” “They need to stay healthy on the offensive line to perform as well as they can. But if Niko is as good as we hope they are, I think this is a team that can play with anyone.” Andy of On3 Staples, Tennessee
