Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) produced yet another dominant show to inch closer to a knockout victory in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. On Sunday, Shreyas Iyer's team defeated Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 98 runs at the Ekana Stadium. This win took them to the top of the points table with 16 points and the highest Net Run Rate (NRR) of +1.453.
The Knights have been pretty consistent this season, but not in terms of their captain winning the coin toss. Iyer lost his eighth toss in 11 matches, but it did not affect the team's performance as KKR raised 235 tosses in six innings after being brought into bat by LSG. In response, the visiting team defeated KL Rahul & Company for 137 and continued their march towards the playoffs.
The same was being discussed in the KKR locker room, but Iyer was happy until his team won the match.
“For the last six games, it's been chaos in the locker room. Team-mates have come in and asked, 'Skip what's going on, we're losing the toss,' but we're winning the game,” he said. That's important,'' Iyer said in the post-match presentation. .
“We got off to a great start on the power play. The combination of lefties and righties makes things difficult for opponents. It's all about the freedom to go out and express yourself. “I want to stay positive no matter what happens. Sometimes things don't work out, but sometimes things do go well,” he added.

After losing the toss on Sunday, KKR were forced to bat first but became the first team to cross the 200-run mark at the Ekana Stadium. Once again proving his worth in the willows, Narine (81 off 38 balls) continued his onslaught of six hits, blasting seven maximums and six fours to guide the visiting team to 235/6.
Chasing an impressive total, the LSG batsmen had to attack from the beginning, but the hosts found it difficult to land big shots and were ultimately banded out for 137 in 16.1 overs.
