Nadine Museral, who led the Ohio State University women's ice hockey team to the most conference wins in program history, has been named the Western Collegiate Hockey Association Coach of the Year, the league announced Thursday.
The Buckeyes' 26 regular season conference wins this season surpassed last year's record of 23 wins.
Museral also became the winningest coach in Ohio State women's ice hockey history when the Buckeyes defeated the then No. 1 ice hockey team on Jan. 19. 7 Muselal scored her 179th win over Minnesota Duluth 3-0.
“She's definitely the best coach I've had in my career,” graduate forward Kenzie Hauswirth said after the record-breaking win on Jan. 19. “When you look at what she has done from the beginning of this program to now, it is amazing. She is our fearless leader and we all want to work for her. She's built this great culture here and we all buy into that.”
Museral has now won each of the last three conference Coach of the Year awards, and has won five in his eight years at Ohio State.
This season, Ohio State broke records for season goals, assists, points, goals in a single game, and short goals in a single game. The Buckeyes also tied the record for shorthanded goals in a season and are two wins away from tying the program record for total wins in a season.
The Ohio State University WCHA semifinals Friday's game against No. 8 Minnesota Duluth for the seventh consecutive season will be live streamed on Big Ten Plus.
