Murfreesboro, Tennessee — February 29, 2024 – Middle Tennessee football will play six spring exhibition games to prepare for the upcoming fall 2024 regular season, the head coach said. aston loden It was released on Thursday.
The Blue Raiders will play their spring opener at Austin Peay on March 16 at 1 p.m., before returning home to Hayes Stadium on March 23 to face Cumberland at 1 p.m. MTSU closes out March with a game against the Mox in Chattanooga on March 30th at 12:00 p.m. C.T.
Coach Rhoden and the Blue Raiders will host the MTSU tournament on April 6th, with MTSU facing Trevecca, followed by a neutral-site game between UT Martin and UT Southern. The teams that lost the first two games will play a repechage match, followed by the championship game between the teams that won the first two games.
The spring schedule concludes with a game against Belmont on Saturday, April 13th at noon at Hayes Stadium.
“Spring is a time of growth, and these games will definitely help us grow in a lot of different areas,” Rhoden said of the upcoming spring schedule. “Playing against our in-state rivals gives us the opportunity to better manage the key moments of a stressful game.
“We are really excited to get started and look forward to the challenges ahead.”
MTSU defeated Belmont 3-1 last season and dropped the game to Chattanooga 2-1. Austin Peay will finish the 2023 season with a 5-11-5 record, ending the season in the quarterfinals of the ASUN Tournament. Cumberland went 16-2-3 last year, winning the Mid-South Conference but losing in the NAIA Round of 16. Trevecca finished the 2023 season with a 6-7-5 record.
Admission is free to all spring exhibition matches at Dean A. Hayes Track and Soccer Stadium.
