WAYNESVILLE, Missouri – The community of Waynesville, Missouri is mourning the death of a youth soccer player who died after collapsing on the field during a game.
According to the WSR Youth Sports Facebook page, the player collapsed during a soccer match at Roubidou Park on Thursday night. After quick treatment, the player was rushed to the hospital.
WSR Youth Sports identified the player as Ken Taylor, who later died after his symptoms worsened.
“Our hearts, thoughts and prayers go out to the Taylor family as they mourn the loss of their beloved son Ken,” WSR Sports said on Facebook. “We are reaching out to their families at this time to let them know that we are here, that we care, and that we grieve with you. May God help you during this time.” May you be with me.
The City of Waynesville shared a photo of the monument via Facebook on Friday and issued the following statement:
“It is with heavy hearts that I post this. A young athlete who collapsed on the soccer field last night has passed away.
We stand with the Taylor family during this difficult time and extend our deepest condolences on the loss of their beloved Ken. May we all find strength and solace in each other's embrace.
The city is placing a wreath at the soccer field where the tragedy occurred and is inviting local residents to make their own donations to honor Ken Taylor's memory. ”
