Michigan State women's basketball has been very active in the transfer portal so far this offseason. After adding transfer forward Grace VanSleuten and transfer guard Emma Shumate this month, the Spartans made another signing through the portal on Saturday.
Former Arizona State two-way guard Ja'Dan Simmons announced on Instagram Saturday that he has committed to Michigan State University.
Simmons has one year of eligibility remaining. The former Sun Devil averaged 9.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game in his final season at Arizona State. She also reached her 1,000 point mark of her career, ranking her 17th on the program's all-time scoring list.
Simmons was named honorable mention to the Pac-12 All-Defensive Team for the second year in a row.
In four seasons at Arizona State, Simmons totaled 1,139 points, 128 rebounds, 104 assists, 57 steals, and 13 blocks in 108 games, 107 of which were starts.
Simmons leads the Arizona State program in minutes per season (1,136) and minutes per game per season (36.9). The former was achieved last season, and the latter in the 2022-23 season. She averaged 36.6 last season, which ranks her second all-time in minutes per game.
Simmons also leads the program in career average minutes per game (33.5) and free throw attempts (484).
The veteran guard joined Michigan State after entering the transfer portal over a month ago.
The Spartans will enter next season without two of last year's top three scorers, guards Moira Joyner and Dee Dee Hageman. The additions of Simmons and Van Sleuten will help that greatly, as each were among the leading scorers on their previous teams.
