ANN ARBOR, Mich. โ Former University of Michigan star quarterback and Wolverines assistant director of player personnel Denard Robinson was arrested early Monday on suspicion of driving under the influence after a single-vehicle crash in Ann Arbor, police said. The official announced. He said.
Robinson was arrested around 3:05 a.m. after a crash near the intersection of State Street and Eisenhower Parkway, said Chris Page, strategic communications manager for the Ann Arbor Police Department. Page said charges are pending toxicology results.
Michigan State released the following statement: “We are aware of the incident involving Denard Robinson and have suspended him indefinitely. We will continue to monitor the situation and have no further comment at this time.”
Robinson rushed for 4,495 yards at Michigan, second in program history and the most by a QB in NCAA history. He was a fifth-round pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2013 and worked with the organization as a scout before being hired by the University of Michigan in player personnel in 2022.
Robinson is the second member of Michigan's football staff to be arrested on suspicion of OWI in the past two months. Greg Scruggs, the newly hired defensive line coach at the University of Michigan, was arrested in March with a blood alcohol level twice the legal limit, according to Ann Arbor police. He subsequently resigned from his position.
