Mercer Trade Inc. in action Mother's Day 5K
The sun beat down on the meadows of Luther Burbank Park as thousands of runners and walkers gathered to participate in the inaugural Mercer Trade Inc. Mother's Day 5K on May 11th.
The all-ages, one-heat event features a course that stretches throughout the park with Lake Washington in the background, begins at 2:15 p.m., and is one of several Mercer Island High School (MIHS) student-run events. Learn about business yearly projects through the International Entrepreneurship class. About 200 people registered, and his website listed his 150 finishers.
MIHS 2023 graduate Ben Kolpa won in 17 minutes and 32 seconds and said after the race: There were more hills than I expected, and it was my first time seeing this course. it was fun. ”
Islander Cooper Jensen took on Colpa on the final straight and took second place with a time of 17 minutes, 34 seconds.
A portion of the funds raised from entry fees will go toward general race costs and T-shirts for all runners/walkers, with remaining proceeds going to Mercer Island Youth and Family Services Foundation, MIHS ASB, and our partners in The First Night Project will be donated to. , is funding comfort kits to be distributed to various hospitals treating teens with cancer.
