OGDEN โ Syracuse finished second with a 4-1 record and Logan High School won the Tiger Trials boys volleyball tournament held Friday and Saturday at Ogden High School.
Syracuse defeated Clearfield 25-15, 25-12 in Friday's pool game late at night, winning the pool game 3-0.
The Titans (16-7) defeated Murray 25-19, 26-24, 25-22 on Saturday morning to advance to the tournament's title match. Chase Barrett had 13 kills, Davis Caldwell had 12 kills, Branson Hamblin had 14 goals and Caleb Roskelly had 35 assists.
Syracuse faced Logan (4-0 to that point in the weekend) in the tournament title game Saturday afternoon, and the Grizzlies defeated the Titans 25-23, 25-18, 21-25, 25-22. Caldwell totaled 12 kills and 13 digs. Freshman Taron Morris had 23 assists. Hamblin conducted 24 excavations.
Clearfield went 2-1 in Friday's pool play and lost in straight sets to Logan in Saturday's open bracket play, but the Falcons defeated Murray 27-25, 24-26, 28-26, 25-18. Won 3rd place in the tournament.
Ogden defeated Murray in pool play and defeated Utah Military Academy Hillfield (Riverdale) and Woods Cross in straight sets on Saturday to take seventh place.
No other match statistics were reported.
The final team finish order is: Logan, Syracuse, Clearfield, Murray, Ogden, Woods Cross, Granger, Utah Military.
