COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Penn State men's swimming and diving team will travel to Columbus, Ohio for the Big Ten Championships starting Wednesday.
The event begins with the qualifying swim on Wednesday, February 28th at 5pm. On February 29th (Thursday), March 1st (Friday), and March 2nd (Saturday), qualifying rounds will be held in the morning session, and finals for each swimming event will be held in the afternoon session.Morning session starts at 10am and final session starts at 5pm
The Nittany Lions will compete against top-ranked teams in Columbus, as several Big Ten swimming programs hold CSCAA national rankings. No. 5 Indiana, No. 14 Ohio State, No. 18 Michigan, and No. 22 Wisconsin will attend. Northwestern and Minnesota both received votes in the same poll.
The Nittany Lions' top swimmers this season will be entering the field hoping for a few strong records.
junior Victor Baganha This season, he leads the Nittany Lions in freestyle events. He looks to make an impact in the 50, 100 and 200 free this weekend.
Senior Lachlan Byrne He has also been a standout for the Nittany Lions, posting fast times in several events, including being part of Penn State's powerful 400-meter medley relay team alongside Baganha.
2nd grade cooper morley He has performed well in the second half of the season with the Nittany Lions, and is expected to continue his strong record. In his last matchup against Villanova, Morey won the 100 back and took second place in the 200 back.
The junior who beat Morley in the 200m back last time. jack harvey He has been gaining strength in the second half of the season and is likely to have an impact in the backstroke event.
Senior Calvin Wise He has been strong in the breaststroke all season, and looks like he will be able to finish his career with the Nittany Lions on a high note.
