“Santiago is a great addition to our coaching staff,” McIntyre said. “He has great passion and his diverse experience as a player and coach will help us continue to grow as a team. Santiago's knowledge of the game as a goalkeeper will complement our coaching staff. He will be a great complement to the team and I look forward to meeting him and continuing to grow as a coach. ”
Restrepo was named first-team goalie coach for Greenville Triumph SC after spending 2022-2023 with the USL W-League's Greenville Liberty SC, where he held the titles of assistant coach and goalie coach. Ta. Restrepo began his coaching career as the varsity soccer coach at Boiling Springs High School and joined Scott Halkett's staff at Division I USC Upstate in 2020, where he served as the team's goalie for three seasons.
“I'm excited to be a part of the Syracuse family,” Restrepo said. “This is a great opportunity at a top program and I look forward to contributing to the team and working with a talented group of goalies.”
The Greenville, South Carolina, native played four seasons at USC Upstate from 2014 to 2017, starting 14 games and accumulating 1,128 net minutes in his career. Restrepo averaged 1.91 goals against and made 47 saves in college. After his time with the Spartans, Restrepo played professionally for AFC Roatán (second division Honduras) and was a member of the 2020 USL League One Champion Greenville Triumph team.
Restrepo joined a Syracuse program that made its second straight season and eighth NCAA Tournament appearance under McIntyre.
