Colby's Donovan O'Neal led the Mules (4-7-2 overall, 2-5-2 NESCAC) with two goals on the afternoon. His first goal, as the Cardinals were called up to the super minors, opened with a power play goal in the second period, coming four minutes after the first puck drop of the game.
In the second period, the Mules showed a furious attack. O'Neal started the period with a power-play goal, but the Mules scored three more goals in the final five minutes of the period. Henry Molson scored Muse's third goal at 4:25. John McClain scored a shorthanded goal at 1:46. Then, the Cardinals stumbled in the penalty area and Tyler Crist scored his second goal on a power play with less than 30 seconds left. Neither team scored for the remaining 20 minutes.
The game saw a combined 15 penalties for both teams, mostly in the second period. The Cardinals penalty kill unit stopped five of seven man advantages for the Mules.
