Babson Park, Massachusetts —In late June, the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) announced its eighth annual Clampde All-American Scholars, honoring four members of the Babson College men's ice hockey program for their success in the classroom.
Junior Michael Holland (Charlotte, North Carolina) and Brendan Murphy (Arlington, Massachusetts) and second grade Will Holland (Charlotte, North Carolina) and Egan Schmidt (Schuylerville, N.Y.) was one of 550 Division II and III athletes honored by the AHCA and Crump Aid. To be eligible, student-athletes must achieve a 3.75 grade point average each semester of the 2023-24 season and play in at least 40 percent of their team's matches.
Will Holland and Schmidt won the award for the second straight year. Holland played in all 26 games and finished with 10 points on three goals and seven assists, ranking third among defensemen in scoring. Schmidt also played in all 26 games and was tied for the team lead in both goals (10) and power play goals (4) while also adding 15 points with five assists.
Michael Holland He made his Babson College debut in the season opener against Milwaukee Institute of Technology on October 27 before missing most of the first half of the season with an injury. After offseason surgery, Murphy returned to the lineup in January and recorded his only assist of the season in the Beavers' 4-0 win over New England College in his season debut.
Babson finished the 2023-24 season with an overall record of 14 wins, 10 losses and two ties after losing to Elmira in the NEHC Tournament quarterfinals in February.
