St. Charles, Missouri – The Lindenwood men's ice hockey team has announced its schedule for the 2024-25 season, its third season in Division I competition and head coach Bill McAlt's first in his first year on the job. The Lions will host six home series at Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Missouri.
“We have six home series with the highlight being hosting the Ohio State Buckeyes at Centene Community Ice Center on November 15th and 16th,” said Coach Makart during the initial schedule announcement at Lindenwood. “Overall, we are very excited about the strength of schedule and the quality of our opponents.”
The Lions will host the UNLV Rebels in Centene on Saturday, October 5 and Sunday, October 6. Both games are scheduled to start at 7:10 PM CST. This will be the first time the two clubs have faced off against each other.
The Lions then open a five-game road series against Wisconsin in Madison, Wisconsin on Friday, Oct. 11 and Saturday, Oct. 12. Lindenwood continues its road trip with matches against Air Force (Oct. 18-19), Miami of Ohio (Oct. 25-26), Robert Morris (Nov. 1-2) and Denver (Nov. 8-9).
McCart's team will then return home for back-to-back games against Big Ten rivals Ohio State and Stonehill College, with Lindenwood University hosting the Buckeyes at 7:10pm CST and 2:10pm CST on Friday, November 15 and Saturday, November 16. The Lions will then travel to Centene University on November 22 and 23, before taking on Stonehill College on Friday at 7:30pm CST and Saturday at 4:30pm CST.
Lindenwood will finish the remainder of the 2024 season on the road before the holidays, playing Michigan State on Nov. 29 and 30 and the University of Nebraska at Omaha on Dec. 13 and 14. Game times will be announced at a later date.
As the new year begins, Lindenwood will host St. Thomas on Friday, January 3 and Saturday, January 4 at 7:30 pm and 4:30 pm. Beginning on Friday, January 10, the Lions will begin a three-series road trip beginning with two games against Stonehill in Easton, Massachusetts. Lindenwood will face Augustana (January 17-18) and Notre Dame (January 24-25) before returning home for an exhibition series against Simon Fraser on January 31-February 1.
To close out the season, Lindenwood will take a trip to Long Island on February 6th and 7th before returning to Centine for their final home series against Alaska-Fairbanks on Friday, February 14th (7:10pm CST) and Saturday, February 15th (2:10pm CST). The final series will be played at Alaska-Anchorage on February 21st and 22nd.
“This game will be a good challenge for our team because we are using this game as a gauge to measure our level,” said McAlt. “This season will be a great opportunity to see where we can improve as a team. I'm looking forward to getting on the ice with my players and starting to work on getting better.”
