Boston – Boston University Men's Ice Hockey Head Coach Jay Pandolfo The team announced its leadership group for the 2024-25 season on Monday. This will be the first time all three stars will wear the letter C uniforms, with Lachance becoming the first sophomore in program history to don the “C” jersey and Green becoming the first junior to don the “C” jersey since Dante Fabbro in the 2018-19 season.
“I am pleased that Ryan, Shane and Devin have been selected as team leaders for next season,” Pandolfo said. “All three are well respected by their teammates, coaching staff and support staff. This will be the first time all three have put on the uniform, but they have all demonstrated leadership skills during their time at BU and exemplified what it means to be a part of the Terriers. I look forward to working with them next season as we compete for a national title again.”
Green was outstanding for the Terriers in his first two seasons as commissioner, missing only two games for the Terriers and appearing in all 40 games last season while setting career highs with 12 goals, 24 assists and 36 points. He played his best late in the game, recording three goals, three assists and six points during the postseason, helping the team to a five-game point streak from March 9-28. Green was also outstanding on the dot, ranking fourth among Hockey East's top 13 point earners in faceoff win percentage (50.3%).
Lachance, who was the team's Bennett McInnis Spirit Award winner last year, made an immediate impact in his first season with the team. He played in all 40 games and tallied 13 goals and 14 assists for 27 points. Two of those 27 points came in the NCAA Sioux Falls Regional Final, where he recorded a goal and an assist in the Terriers' 6-3 win over then-No. 7 Minnesota to clinch a spot in the Frozen Four. Lachance also recorded a career-high three points, including the game-winning goal and two assists, in a 4-2 win over then-No. 11/10 Providence on March 7.
Kaplan was a reliable power forward his first two seasons with the Terriers, missing just three games as a sophomore after playing in all 40 games as a freshman. He recorded 23 points for the second straight season and had a career-high 18 assists as a sophomore. Kaplan is a plus-24 in 77 career games and recorded three assists in the 2024 NCAA Tournament, including two in a 6-3 win over RIT in the opening game. Kaplan also recorded an assist in the national semifinals.
