PINEVILLE, LA (KALB) – Spring football continued on Friday, May 17th as Menard hosted Marksville at LCU.
Last season with the Tigers, coach Josh Harper led the team to a 5-5 record and a home playoff game. The Tigers have several key players back on the field and hope to have a team together in the fall.
This season, he wants to lead the Tigers to victory on the field and in the weight room.
We have some young players and a few spots where we have to step up, but overall I thought we had good leadership in the spring,” Coach Harper said. “Tonight they stepped up and took a leadership role…not by talking, but by showing, by working hard and getting kids to follow them and leaving their mark. They want to be better. They want to improve on last year's season and so far everything is going well. They are doing the right things to have a great season next year.”
Menard is coming off an 8-4 season and will be led by coach David Perkins. The Eagles are hoping to find new leadership within the team after losing 12 seniors last season.
“We came into this situation with a bunch of young players,” Coach Perkins said. “We graduated 12 seniors, so we have a lot of young players in different positions. So the purpose of this game was to evaluate. But the more repetitions, the more they They get to watch a lot of film and we put them in a lot of practical situations where they can be successful… They get better.”
Both teams face tough schedules this season and will be looking to improve heading into Friday night lights.
