Memphis football coach Ryan Silverfield has agreed to a new five-year contract with the school through the 2028 season, paying him an average of $2.45 million annually.
Silverfield is coming off his best season with Memphis, where he went 10-3 and won the Liberty Bowl last fall. The 43-year-old, who replaced Mike Norvell before the 2019 Cotton Bowl, has a 31-19 record over four seasons with the Tigers. He previously served as Memphis' offensive line coach under Norvell.
“Coach Silverfield led his team to one of the best seasons in program history in 2023, laying the foundation for Memphis to rise even further in the expanded College Football Playoff era,” Athletic Director Laird Veitch said in a statement. I believe he has built this.”
Silverfield earned $1.9 million in 2023 and received a raise to $2.2 million for the 2024 season. His salary is scheduled to increase to $2.7 million by the final year of his term. Before going to Memphis, Silverfield spent time at Arizona State and Toledo, as well as the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings.
His 31 wins are second most by a Memphis coach in his first four years behind Norvell's 38 wins. Memphis returns quarterback Seth Hennigan and is firmly established as one of the top teams in the AAC.
