Continuing Boulder City's rich swimming tradition, star senior Phoebe McLaren was named 3A Swimmer of the Year.
Phoebe McLaren, a key member of the Eagles' regional championship team, won the 200-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle, setting new state and school records in the 500-yard freestyle.
Phoebe McLaren, who was perfect throughout the postseason, won both races at the regional meet.
“Phoebe is very deserving of this honor,” said head coach Sarah Carroll. “She has worked hard all season and I'm very proud of her.”
Phoebe McLaren, who was named to the girls' region first team, was joined on the team by senior McKenna Morrow, freshman Zoe McLaren, junior Chase Larson and sophomore Savannah Fecteau.
At the state meet, Morrow took first place in diving and Zoe McLaren took second in the 200-yard individual medley.
Larson placed seventh in the 100-yard freestyle and eighth in the 50-yard freestyle, while Fecteau placed eighth in the 500-yard freestyle at state.
Named to the first team on the boys' state championship team were senior Troy Higley, juniors Brigham Jensen and Leandre Daniels and sophomores Tate Orton and Duncan McLaren.
“They're all really happy,” Carol said. “I think it's encouraging for them and motivates them to keep working hard. It's always nice to be recognized for your hard work. This really has a positive impact on them.”
At the state meet, Higley placed first in the 50-yard freestyle and third in the 100-yard freestyle, while Duncan McLaren placed first in the 200-yard freestyle and second in the 500-yard freestyle.
Orton placed third in the 50-yard freestyle and fourth in the 100-yard backstroke, while junior Leandre Daniels placed third in the 100-yard butterfly and third in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Jensen finished fifth in the 200-yard freestyle and sixth in the 100-yard freestyle.
Selected to the boys' second team were seniors John Dickerman and Vinny Freiburger, sophomores Canyon Lennon, Aiden Villa and Eric Garza and freshman Cruz Stevens.
At the state meet, Lennon placed fourth in the 500-yard freestyle and fifth in the 200-yard individual medley, while Dickerman placed eighth in the 100-yard butterfly.
Villa finished eighth in the 100-yard freestyle.
Selected to the girls' second team were seniors Leilani Crow and Naomi Farnsworth, junior Hannah Angell and freshman Kennedy Steckelberg.
At the state meet, Angel finished seventh in both the 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard individual medley, while Farnsworth was part of the girls' 400-yard freestyle relay team.
On the boys' side, juniors Ben Hardy and Dylan Mattea were named Outstanding Players, while freshmen Chelsea Larson and Audrey Humphrey were named Outstanding Players on the girls' side.
