The racing has been a little quieter in the US because it's Memorial Day, but elsewhere there are plenty of races happening, including the Golden Trail World Series in Spain, the SkyRunner World Series in Mexico and the UTMB World Series in South Africa.
Zegama Marathon – Zegama, Spain
After two new races in Asia, the Golden Trail World Series returns to Europe with the long-running Zegama-Aiskouri Marathon, and iRunFar previously summarized the dynamics of the race.

The second half of the first half of the race, Sylvia Nordsker (Norway) took the lead and then fell behind the chasing group the rest of the way. In the end, Nordskar was over six minutes ahead of everyone else, a dominating performance against a world-class field. After Nordskar, the next four riders were only two minutes behind him.
Maren Osa (Spain) came in second with a time of 4 minutes 35 seconds, leading the chasing group. Marta Martinez (Spain) came in third, also with a time of 4 minutes 35 seconds, but 20 seconds behind.

Kilian Jornet (Spain, Norway) took his 11th victory, but it wasn't by a hair's breadth. The 36-year-old Jornet finished eight minutes faster than everyone else, his 11th victory in 12 starts and just two minutes off his own course record.
As in the women's race, the pack behind the leaders was very close, with less than two minutes separating second through fifth place.
Golden Trail World Series Regular Elhsin Elazaoui (Morocco) and Bartolomew Przedowozewski (Poland) was the next best. Both finished 3 minutes 46 seconds apart, 38 seconds apart.

Mexico Sky Challenge – Orizaba, Mexico
The fifth SkyRunner World Series race is one of two taking place in North America this year, along with the Minotaur Skyrace in Canada on June 22. The mountain race in Mexico is 35 kilometers long with an elevation gain of 3,200 meters – slightly shorter than a traditional marathon, but with an elevation gain of 10,500 feet.
Official finish times have not yet been posted online, but social media has revealed the athletes who made it onto the podium.
Karina Carsolio (Mexico) wins the women's title Kelly Wolf (United States) and Emma Cook Clark (Canada).
And for men, Abraham Hernandez The winner was an athlete from the host country. As of November 2023, he will have completed the half marathon in 1 hour and 4 minutes. Miguel Perez (Mexico) came in second, Johnny Luna Lima (Brazil, living in the United States) came in third.

UTMB Mountain Ultra Trail – George, South Africa
The only UTMB World Series event held in South Africa this year drew 2,000 runners to the Garden Route National Park and the wild Outeniqua Mountains. Most participants were South African, with 95% of race participants from the host country.

The longest distance in the event was 23,963 feet of elevation gain after 101 miles, and only 54 competitors. Maria Marinkovitz (South Africa) and Douglas Pickard In the women's race, Marinkowicz won in 32 minutes 15 seconds, just under 30 minutes, while Pickard won in 22 minutes 25 seconds, more than two hours faster than everyone else.
100k MUT
Natalia Mastrota (Italy) and Axel Three Bass (Belgium) was first to complete the 61-mile route and nearly 16,000 feet of climbing in times of 13 minutes 29 seconds and 11 minutes 48 seconds.

The race was 36 miles with an elevation gain of just over 10,000 feet. The winner of the race was Emily Jock (United States) and Andreas Lundegård (Sweden) finished in 7 minutes 17 seconds and 6 minutes 8 seconds respectively.
MUT Marathon
Rebecca Kohne (South Africa) won the women's division in 4 minutes 52 seconds, and the South African legend Ryan Sandes The boys won in 4 minutes 12 seconds.

Leavenworth Trail Festival – Leavenworth, Washington
Kelly Macdonald and Carter Shay I won the 55km in 6 minutes 39 seconds and 5 minutes 14 seconds. Full results.
Nanny Goat 100 Mile – Riverside, California
A small group was led by Melanie Boone and Alexis McGill The times were 22:26 and 20:07 respectively. The race also featured several fixed time contests. Full results.
Crown of the Crest 100 Mile – Fremont, Nebraska
Stacey Buckley and Dayton Robe He won the 10 x 10 mile race in 29:53 and 25:42, a new record for Loeb on the Calvin Crest Camp course. Full results (when available).
Sugar Badger 50/50 – Belleville, Wisconsin
The race will be an out-and-back trip on the Badger Trail and Sugar River Trail. Amelia Driscoll and Jonathan Knoll He won the 50-mile race in times of 7 minutes 24 seconds and 6 minutes 23 seconds. Alexandra Sielaff and Aaron Fearing The fastest times for 50km were 4:56 and 4:12. Full results.
Fools 50k – Peninsula, Ohio
The race was adapted to a 3.5-mile loop on private trails at Camp Manatoc near Cuyahoga Valley National Park, and new distances were added. Linda Oh and John Fabianich McCrae He won the 100km in 16 minutes 57 seconds and 11 minutes 33 seconds. Virginia Bibb Golden and Mike Dumas I ran the 50 mile in 11:05 and 9:14. Capital Backyard Ultra – Lorton, Virginia
