Matt Richards and James Guy coach Ryan Livingstone takes on leadership role at Manchester Performance Center
ryan livingstonOlympic and World Champion Coach matt richardshas been appointed as the new Aquatics GB Manchester Performance Center Lead Coach.
Livingstone is currently based at Millfield School in the South West of England. james guy and Richards' fiance Emily Large is also part of the training group.
He will take up his first role in September 2024 as Manchester Performance Center develops into a fully integrated Paralympic and Olympic performance center after the Paris 2024 Games.
Located within the Manchester Aquatics Center, the center currently functions as the Paralympic Swimming Performance Center and has developed numerous Paralympic and World Champion talents in recent cycles.
Work under the overall direction of the Aquatics GB Associate Performance Director. Tim JonesIn Livingston's new position as Manchester's lead coach, he will work closely with Livingstone. rob aubrey and bill furniss – Head Coach of Paralympic and Olympic Swimming respectively – and Swimming National Technical Lead for Swim England.
The Manchester Performance Center will provide Swim England's recognized Performance Athletes with a permanent program and a hub to transition at the appropriate time.
Livingston said:

In an interview with Swimming World last year, Richards said:
“He is an extraordinary person, unlike anyone else.
“His understanding and knowledge of the sport and the science behind what we do is incredible.
“He might get mad at me for praising me so much, but I think he's the real reason I had so much success last year.
“I think the partnership between me and him works really well because I’m a science-based athlete.
“The partnership between the two of us works really well for me because I want to know what we're doing and why we're doing it.”
Mr Jones, Aquatics GB Associate Performance Director, added:
“This is a very exciting time for Manchester Performance Center as we aim to further align our Paralympic and Olympic swimming programs and ensure our athletes receive the maximum benefit from this collaboration. We know Ryan can play a vital role in that process.”
