Ypsilanti, Michigan (EMUEagles.com) — mary carrIson has been named an assistant coach for the Eastern Michigan University soccer team, as announced by the head coach taylor clark Tuesday, March 19th.Karlsson joins Clark and associate head coach matt hynes About the team's completed coaching staff.
Carlson, a former fourth-year player at Central Michigan University, spent the past four years as the women's associate head coach at Grace Christian Academy in Franklin, Tennessee. She also served as a middle school math teacher for her four years at the same school while attending college. In 2022 she plans to take on the role of assistant boys soccer coach and the role of middle school track and field assistant.

As a student-athlete at Central Michigan University, Carlson started 78 of the 78 games he was available as a defender. She earned four Academic All-MAC honors in addition to being named to her MAC All-Freshman team in 2015.

Carlson led the Chippewa in minutes played during all four seasons, was a team captain twice, was named Teammate of the Year at the 2019 Chippewa Athletic Awards, and was named Teammate of the Year in 2018. He was chosen as the team's best player.
Carlson is also an extensive semi-professionalResume, workplaceHe was a player, coach and captain of Beaman United FC in the club's inaugural year in 2022, and was also named to the Lansing unit.Ed's Team of the Decade spent 2018 and 2019 with the club. Additionally, Carlson helped Grand Rapids FC win the national championship in his 2017 year, the club's first year of existence.
Carlson is from Grand Rapids, Michigan and graduated from CMU in the spring of 2020 with a degree in Mathematics-Elementary Education.
