New Delhi: A 21-year-old man was allegedly bludgeoned to death after he tried to intervene during a cricket match on Saturday after a fight broke out during a cricket match in Delhi. According to police, the incident took place in northwest Delhi's Bharat Nagar area and the victim was allegedly killed after he tried to intervene in a fight between his younger brother and another cricketer.
Police said the deceased, identified as Vishal Kumar, died due to internal injuries. Police said a murder case has been filed and a team has been formed to arrest the suspect.
According to police officers, Kumar is survived by his wife and one-year-old son, who live in Pratap Nagar area. His younger brother and sister are studying.
Cops said Kumar was working at a cosmetics factory in Sadar Bazaar.
Police said, adding that Kunal's younger brother Kunal had gone to play cricket near their house after which there was a scuffle between Kunal and others.
Kunal called his brother to the ground. When Kumar reached the ground, the suspect allegedly hit him with a cricket bat.
Kumar was taken to the hospital where doctors declared him dead.
Police said a murder case has been registered and three of the suspects have been identified.
Further legal action is being taken regarding this issue.
