Alabama football signed a new linebacker on Sunday. Luke Metz, a three-star prospect out of Georgia, has announced his intention to play for the Crimson Tide.
The 2025 Mets are he shared the news on social media, in association with Hayes Fawcett of On3 Sports. The Mets chose the Crimson Tide over Duke, Ole Miss, LSU, Tennessee and others.
Metz is listed as the No. 48 linebacker in the 2025 class in the 247Sports Composite Ratings. He is ranked as the No. 47 player overall in the state of Georgia.
“He's an instinctive off-ball linebacker prospect who can weave through traffic and stop in the hole,” 247Sports director of scouting Andrew Ivans wrote in his review of Metz. “He spent his junior season working hard both inside and outside the box while also developing his profile as an edge rusher. He plays with a steady energy and flashes in wide areas while rushing forward. Athletic enough to handle his responsibilities. He has a tendency to attack ball carriers and uses his incredible grip strength to slam them into the ground.”
Metz, who weighs 220 pounds and stands 6 feet 3 inches tall, plays high school football at Mill Creek. He claims to have 33 Division I offers.
He became the third linebacker to join Alabama's 2025 class last week. The Mets join four-stars Darrell “Duke” Johnson and Abdual Sanders.
The Crimson Tide class currently includes eight commitments. The Alabama group ranks No. 6 in the nation, according to the 247 Composite.
