Kalamazoo, Michigan โ With the regular season over, the National Collegiate Hockey Conference announced its all-conference teams this afternoon. Luke Grainger and Sam Colangelo He represented Western Michigan.
This is the sixth consecutive season the Broncos have had at least one student-athlete on every NCHC team. Granger was able to earn second team honors and Colangelo was named to the honorable mention team.
Granger played in 24 conference games and had nine goals and 15 assists for 24 total points. He recorded seven multi-point games in conference play, including two against the University of Colorado. Granger was named the NCHC Forward of the Week on November 20th.
Among forwards, he was 4th in the league in assists and 5th in points. Including all players, all of his marks rank in the top 15 in the conference. This season, the WMU captain had 13 goals and 30 assists for 43 points. All of these numbers are career highs.
Colangelo also had a sensational conference season, finishing with 11 goals and 13 assists for 24 points. He had three multi-goal games in conference play, including a hat trick against Denver. Colangelo was awarded the NCHC Forward of the Week award three times this season.
The Stoneham, Mass., native tied for fifth among league forwards in scoring and tied for seventh in scoring. Colangelo had 20 goals and 18 assists for 38 points this season.
